MEMBERSHIP
It's an exciting time for LEARN as we continue to
restructure. With the beginning of the
2010-11 membership year, LEARN will be implementing
some changes in what we offer, our membership benefits, structure, and
fees.
Membership is
$20 for 2010-11 and will run from Sept 1- June 30. Member discounts for
all LEARN sponsored activities where a fee is charged (*).
Below is a list of what LEARN will be offering in 2010-11:

Membership is not required for Support Group Meetings,
weekly LEARN gatherings, and the Annual Reunion & Homeschool Picnic. For
other events, non-members must attend as the guest of a member. For those
activities and events where a fee is collected, membership discounts will
apply; non-members may be able to attend, but non-member fees will apply.
Monthly Support
Group Meetings for the entire LEARN community
Support Group Meetings will
be restructured to better meet the needs of the broader LEARN
community, new and seasoned homeschoolers alike.

LEARN email list for activities and events
LEARN members will automatically be subscribed to the LEARN email list.
All information about meetings, activities and resources will be sent
through this email list, including much that had previously been forwarded to
other groups and lists (i.e. kc-happenings).
Monthly LEARN Support Group Meetings and Reunion information will continue
to be forwarded to kc-happenings, as will occasional
other events that are not membership specific (biennial campout, Bump City
lock-in, etc). This will not be a discussion loop and you are encourage to freely delete anything not pertinent to you.

registration form.
Annual
Just what it sounds like!
A pot-luck picnic, complete with sack races, potato salad, and lemonade
(ok, we can't guarantee the potato salad) in a beautiful wooded setting.
Unprom
A themed costume ball for
the entire family. Decorations are
prepared by the LEARN community and costumes are provided by you! This
fun annual event includes live music, dancing, carnival games, and potluck
feast.
Teen events
SHTKC has become LEARN
Teens. Membership is open to all LEARN teens (ages 13 +) with some events
open to their guests as well. Activities that require a fee will reflect member
and non-member prices. Activities include:

Monthly game night that
usually involves lots of outdoor play as well as indoor board and card games.
Weekly LEARN
gathering
SCENE classes will become
part of the weekly LEARN gathering. This emphasizes that not only are
there scheduled co-op classes offered, but families can also come just to hang
out, play, and chat. We invite all families to come as a way to find
connection to other homeschooling families, with no expectation of enrolling in
formal classes when they are offered.
New LEARN website
Our new site will have a
calendar, event descriptions, links to homeschool resources and legislative
information, and access to registration and payment options as they become
available.
Membership cards
Paid members will receive 2
membership cards to access educator discounts at many local retailers.
Membership Fee
2010-11 Membership year runs September 1 - June 30 at
a prorated fee of $20
2011-12 Membership year
runs July 1 - June 30 at the full member rate of $25/family/year
Those families who have
joined by September 1st will receive a souvenir invitation to the annual UnProm. Complimentary memberships are offered to LEARN graduates
and to those LEARN families who's children have all
graduated. Financial assistance is available for both membership and
events - we do not want anyone excluded based on their inability to pay.

above address. Membership is not complete until both the registration form and payment have been received.
